Currently, the Iowa Legislature is debating SF 450, and we need your help contacting legislators to request their support of this bill.

SF 450 contains the following provisions and mandates:

  • Mandate of human trafficking training for law enforcement
  • Reclassifies human trafficking as a “forcible felony” so that sentences cannot be suspended or deferred
  • Development of training for the general public, first responders, law enforcement and those in businesses with high incidences of forced labor
  • Allocation of funding for training of victim service providers
  • Collection of data on human trafficking cases in Iowa and submission of an annual report to the general assembly

In partnership with the Network Against Human Trafficking and Braking Traffik, I am writing to request your support of SF 450.

SF 450 contains a number of provisions designed to help prevent, identify and prosecute human trafficking activity in Iowa, as well as serve the critical needs of survivors:
